Steak in a Cast Iron Pan

4/11/2019

Ingredients:
1 or 2 8oz. New York strip steaks or equivalent
Touch of olive oil
2-3 tablespoons smoked maple syrup

  1. Heat a cast iron pan on “high” over the stovetop with just a touch of oil to prevent initial sticking of the steak. Sear both sides of the steaks for one minute then reduce heat to low/medium.
  2. As the steaks begin to release moisture and juices, add the smoked maple syrup.
  3. Simmer for an additional 5 to 7 minutes, flipping once, and serve.

With a loaf of French bread, this can be an amazingly successful one-pan meal.
